The most common questions about ATV/UTV tracks

1. WHAT LEVEL OF FLOTATION SHOULD I EXPECT FROM A TRACK SYSTEM? 

When you equip your machine with a track system, you’ll reduce the ground pressure of your machine’s total weight by up to 75% (depending on vehicle weight, load and the track system model). Basically, it works by using the same concept as snowshoes: the greater the footprint, the more flotation you get.


2. WILL I LOSE SPEED WHEN I INSTALL A TRACK SYSTEM ON MY ATV OR UTV?

The answer is yes, but there’s a very good reason for it. Vehicles lose about one third of their speed when equipped with track systems.
Why? To ensure you get maximum power in tough conditions like snow, mud or when hauling a trailer or plowing the road, the vehicle needs to be adapted with smaller sprockets than the ones used with wheels to retain horsepower for more torque. Added to that, track systems are heavier than tires and require more engine power to turn. You will lose about one third of the speed you´ll have on wheels, but you will get the ability to ride on snow and all other surfaces.

3. CAN I PULL HEAVY SLED OR PLOW SNOW WITH A SMALL TO MEDIUM ATV EQUIPPED WITH TRACK SYSTEM?

Yes. Camso track systems are engineered to retain maximum vehicle horsepower. The sprockets are adapted to your vehicle’s cc to give you the ideal plenty of power to pull a sled or plow a driveway.

4. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INSTALL THE TRACKS?

The assembly time depends on the type and model of your machine, but in general the first installation takes about 2 hours, normal change from tracks to wheels and vice-versa about an hour to get the job done. Only standard tools are needed for installation, however, if possible, Camso recommends having the tracks installed and changed by a CAMSO dealer´s workshop.
